I tried turning off the voicemail instructions so that only the greeting is heard but no matter what I try the instructions still play. Is there perhaps somewhere else to adjust this setting outside of the extensions voicemail VmX or the Settings > Voicemail Admin?
You could look for the audio file and change it to a second or two of silence. Look here /var/lib/asterisk/sounds/ for these files “vm-instructions,” “vm-login,” and “vm-maininstructions”
@kenn10 that’s the point of this post, I did that and the system was not respecting the setting. I’ve done it since and it seems to have worked on other systems, perhaps there was a bug that got fixed??
I also have these settings. I am not using Tango, just IncrediblePBX-2025 with current FreePBX-17 modules so I can’t explain further. It works on my system. FYI, I’m migrating several systems to FusionPBX and the voice mail is much simpler with fewer options than FreePBX. It simply plays the recorded greeting and beeps.
@Ashcor I started a response to this a few weeks ago and forgot to follow-up with you , there is more than one way approach this and mine was redirecting to an announcement then VM with no instructions; however when testing this I discovered an issue with system recordings later verified with the tango team. Im not certain when the fix will be released but if you create any custom system recording you should note that it doesn’t play as expected. I simply created a system recording with 1 second of silence to be followed by the ‘carried away by monkeys’ and linked that to a misc app feature code of 8378 (TEST). If you follow suit, my guess is you will see something similar output on the CLI when trying to do so:
Executing [s@app-announcement-1:5] Playback(“PJSIP/1001-00000001”, “carried-away-by-monkeys,noanswer”) in new stack [2025-10-13 20:42:09] WARNING[370733][C-00000002]: file.c:825 ast_openstream_full: File carried-away-by-monkeys does not exist in any format [2025-10-13 20:42:09] WARNING[370733][C-00000002]: file.c:1322 ast_streamfile: Unable to open carried-away-by-monkeys (format (ulaw)): No such file or directory [2025-10-13 20:42:09] WARNING[370733][C-00000002]: app_playback.c:519 playback_exec: Playback failed on PJSIP/1001-00000001 for carried-away-by-monkeys,noanswer
Whether thats impacting the other approach mentioned or not could be verified by analyzing the console logging.
should be fixed soon
