Freepbx17 expired support contract, WTF

I’ve seen a few google hits on this with silly workarounds - resetting installation ID.

Firstly, we’ve never bought any commercial modules - not even the so called free MFA module, although did try but clicking on buy fails connecting to portal sangoma blah blah blah. So again, nothing bought, nothing even started to be bought, yet this message has been popping up almost every couple of days now, for weeks - yes, only weeks, not in September last year like it claims this fictional contract expired, funny enough the expiration date was about the date we actually installed 17 fresh on a new box to replace the aged v14 on another hardware.

I’ve github’d this but got nowhere, either they have no clue or their outsourced coders are bloody useless, Kgupta replied asking for some info - the same info I had already provided, so either way their care factor seems non existent.
Hoping someone here has seen this and knows of a fix (I don’t really call starting all over again with anew deployment ID a fix, as who knows, will it re-occur in another 10 months.

I speculate their registration server is screwing up somehow. There was a post on the FreePBX forum where someone registered a new ID and it had PBXact licensing applied to it. Seems like a bug where an old ID was reissued.

Why not just get a new deployment ID. You don’t have any licenses, anyway.

I considered it as I mentioned, but given a number of people are seeing this (based on google) why apply a bandaid, when they can and should apply a surgical fix… but I guess they have to find the surgeon (coders) first who know WTF they are actually doing for that, if github fails for much longer I just might have to get a new ID, I never like doing things like that to circumvent a vendors screwup.

I bit the bullet, copy/paste from github

against my belter judgement, I changed the deployment ID, even used a different Email so that it no longer goes to my personal Email, the new activation went well, Activation page even gives me my new 7xxxxxxxxx ID, all good, click into commercial licence page and it still showed my old 6xxxxxxxxxx ID, I chuckle, and reboot the machine, login 10 mins later, Activation page says ID 7xxxxxxxxxx but alas the licenced module page still shows my old previous 6xxxxxxxx expired ID

and well, at least it hasn’t nagged me on login or dashboard - yet :stuck_out_tongue:
